HG Earthree Gundam

When I first saw this mobile suit in anime, I was a bit surprised at its core Gundam. I thought it was weird looking in a good way but when I saw it transform into Earthree Gundam, I wasn't impressed with it.

With the popularity of Gundam Build Diver Re: Rise, I have seen a lot of Earthree Gundam build by many people and some of them really good so I decided to purchased and build one.

The build was fun, even the painting, but the design of the MS? It was not for me. It has a lot of lines and design elements, but for some reason, it was a bit bland.

Here is the box art. It shows the Earthree Gundam with its signature pose and on the background it the core Gundam with the armor carrier. Basic, but it shows what this kit it.

Here is the manual.

That poncho...

This kit comes with a small sheet of a foil sticker. They are for lens effect.

It also includes four beam saber effect parts. Two large ones for Earthree Gundam and tow small ones for Core Gundam.

Building the kit was easy. Like other modern Bandai kits, it was simple to cut out, easy to clean and assembly. It took me about two hours to build the whole thing, while carefully cleaning each part.

Here is the armor carrier with the Earthree Gundam armor attached. Its bit bland.

Here is the Core Gundam OOB build without the stickers applied.

I don't know why, but I really like the core Gundam. It is weird, unique, and fun. Surprisingly it poses well.

Here is with its armor attached. That uniqueness from Core Gundam is gone and it became another Gundam model kit.

And I forgot to mention, the shield attaches in a weird way on both Earthree Gundam and Core Gundam. It is attached to the back of the hand making it look weird. It does have a peg to attach in the usual place, but the handle does not fold, so you still have to attach it to the hand. It makes it really awkward poses due to this.

For transformation suit, it does pose well, without sacrificing its proportions.

I particularly like the kneeling pose of the Core Gundam.

I also like Core Gundam standing next to the armor carrier.

I decided to keep this kit simple and gave it a simple paint job. I did gave it a basic shading and applied some panel liner, but that is about it. The thing about these designs that are more to super robot design than rear type is that weathering it would ruin it, especially when I am painting as original as possible.

I also used this as an excuse to get more experience with lacquer paint. I was getting tired of painting plastic spoons. This also became a guinea pig to see how durable lacquer paint is as a lot of parts rub and scrape together especially the armor parts. The end result was that it is more durable than any acrylic paints I have used and I will be using this a lot from now on.

Please enjoy the gallery.

I really need to learn how to take photography better and how to do color correction.

I still think the design is a bit bland for the main character mobile suit. I like the core Gundam due to its unique and weird design

The build and the painting were easy and fun and I really enjoyed it. I was also surprised by how articulate this is considering that this is a transformation, although its actually parts attachment, kit. I found this kit to be solid, and I didn't have the problem where the arm armor falling off like other builders experienced.

As a Gundam fan, this is a pass for me. This super robot style is not for me. But as a modeler, I am now hooked and I have to get the rest of the armor.

As usual, here is the Let's Build video.
