When this kit was first announced, my thought was 'Another one?' The first Fumina kits were disappointing, but when I heard it was part of Figure-Rise Standard I had my hopes up that this would be a good kit. I mean, Ayaka and Mobile Doll May was an awesome kit. When I saw the picture, however, I was disappointed. Proportions were all wrong. Wide shoulder, narrow hip, She had a proportion of a man with a giant pair of breast. Add weird proportional arm to make it weird, but make her naked with spats to pull in the guys for sex appeal. No matter how I look at it, it was their sad attempt to milk more out of Fumina who isn't even my favorite girl from Gundam series.
After building it and painting it though, I ended up liking this kit, and even recommending it.
Let's start with the box art.
It has two pictures of Fumina to show two ways to show this kit. The one with a hoodie and the one without a hoodie, showing off her feminine charm in her sportswear that really hides nothing much.
Going to the Instruction Manuel, you can see that there is more to one of the picture, she is throwing a typical sexy pose showing off her well-shaped bottom. Too bad the kit can't take this pose.
The kit includes two types of decals. The foil sticker and water slide dedcals. There is some color correcting stickers on the foil sticker part, but it wasn't that bad. The water slide decals were god-send.
This kit also includes a clear yellow part of the runner that belongs to Ayaka. You only use one part which is part of the stand, but there are enough parts to make Super Saiyan Ayaka.
Another part from Ayaka.
Not sure why but it includes a small runner to build a petit guy.
It also has this bright pink that would make adult toys proud. The detail seems to be good.
Building the kit was easy as expected from Bandai kits. Part pop out of its runners without any issues and cleaning was easy. Even with careful cleaning, it took about an hour and a half to fully build this, including applying water slide decals.
I stand with what I said earlier. The proportions are off. She has more of male proportion than female. So if you are looking for a cute girl doing sexy poses, look elsewhere. Also, her arm and leg are weird. Her upper arm is short and her lower leg is long, making her look out of proportion.
The water slide decals are a godsend though. It makes her face on the same quality as the pre-printed faceplate from Kotobukiya kits. Below is a picture of her face with water slide decals for her eyes, eyebrow, and her blush. Yeah, it's really good.
Her hips can use more volume.
You can add her yellow hoodie which does make her look a bit more natural.
The articulation is a bit limited. It's really hard to pose her in a sexy pose, and in some cases, it looks unnatural.
Still, Bandai was flexing their technical know-how when they made this. See the pink and white sportswear? Those are color-separated parts except the blue cat logo. There are no gaps between color separations. It's hard to see this kind of accuracy on other kits.
Well, at least she has large boobs. Better that she is taller than Ayaka.
Despite her articulation issues, She is good at posing in a dynamic and/or fighting poses.
Painting this kit wasn't that hard. I used Mr. Hobby Lacquer paint.
For the skin tone I used MR. Color X Kaiyodo Flesh Color Set. Unlike Lascivus line, this is straight-up skin tone color and I like this painting better. I painted the whole skin tone in dark color first and added highlights until I got the desired shading.
I also painted her sports wear carefully to add a shadow on her chest and her hips. I think it came out well giving it more volume.
Here are the pictures with her hoodie off.
As you can see, she looks good in fighting pose.
I did try to make her look more sexy.
But the fighting pose is better.
This was also my entry to NewtypeHQ and HiChew contest.
