Madoka Yuki Dreaming Style Fresh Berry

Kotobukiya makes alot of plastic model kits in collaboration with other companies. Some are really good like Alice Gear Aegis, and some are bad like LBCS Soukou Musume kits. One of their latest collaboration is with Soudai Shojo Tein, and this Madoka Yuki is one of their first line from this collaboration.

It is not a usual mecha Musume kit. She is a high school girl and nothing much more. Her simple design and the fact that she is a high school girl pushed me away from this kit however, having built this, I was impressed.

Kotobukya introduced two versions of Madoka Yuki. The normal version and the limited version called Dreaming Style Fresh Berry. I bought both of them and both kits are the same aside from the color so if you are painting them, you don't need to buy both.

Here is a box. It has a beautiful and cute picture of Madoka in the front with all of her high school charm. With all the pink color, it really highlights her young girly side.

Here is the instruction manual. It has a high-quality print with the same picture on the front. Like most Kotobukiya kits, the instruction was clear

The front page has a lot of pictures including pictures of a built kit, and options such as her hair.

The rear of the book had this coloring section. This was interesting since it allows people to color in the picture before painting it for that custom build.

This kit has three different kinds of hair options. Because of this, there are alot of pink hair parts. The hair was extremely well-detailed compared to the Frame Arms Girl kit. It was almost like they took some ideas from their PVC figures.

As usual, this kit includes several preprinted parts. One of them was her panties.

Not only is it painted, but it was also really well detailed. They really know what people want from anime-style high school girls.

There was also a basic stand, but the base of the stand was like a puzzle. I guess you can interlock with other Sousai Shojo Teien kits.

The parts were well sculpted and surprisingly simple in build. It was like building a high-grade kit.

Her hands were molded in rubber-like material. It is of high quality, with alot of flesh marks that are easy to file and sand.

For decals, This kit includes a set of water slide decals. Most of them were for her eyes, but one part that I really appreciate was the stripes for her sailer uniform. Having the water slide decals, I don't have to paint this separately with masking which is really annoying.

Building her was easy. The parts were easy to cut out and clean, and they were not complex in design. Unlike LCBS kits, This kit was simple in design so it ended up working well. There were alot of flesh marks and some were hard to clean, but it was doable with a bit of patience.

Here is what she looks like, build straight of the box without any decals.

She is cute.

She does have two different styles of the skirt. One is plain, and the other is dynamic as if the god of wind is blowing just for me.

almost...

She includes a bag and a smartphone as her accessories.

Her leg can be swapped out for the sitting pose. Some people might have a problem with this however, it made her skirt simple and not overly complex. I actually prefer this.

You can also remove her skirt and show off her really well-detailed panty.

She does have some flat ass.

I was actually surprised at how nimble her hip joints were. Too bad the skirt gets in the way.

The out-of-box build looked so good, I actually wanted to keep it like that. Maybe do some pastel shading, but just for an out of box build, it looked so good.

However, as I fiddled around with her, I really wanted to paint her so I disassembled her and prepared her for painting.

I first started by removing seamlines. There were few visible ones like on her sweater, but they were easy to clean with simple plastic glue, and thanks to high-quality plastic, they were easy to file and sand.

Since it is a Kotobukiya kit, I taped off all her joints and connection point with masking tape.

I used lacquer paint to paint this kit. I like acrylic but with Musume kits, it is better to use lacquer because some movement will scrape off the paint especially on her hip part.

One annoying part about painting this kit was her hands. Her hands were assembled of three different parts, and there were several different types of hands. All the parts were in different shapes as well. Thankfully the instruction manual showed each hand in a different box with a clear picture of the parts so I just had to match them after painting it. It was a bit annoying since I had to match each small part, but it was doable.

I used water slide decals, which worked out well, and some small details were painted on using acrylic paint.

And here is the finished kit.

I did subtle shading on her clothing, and It came out well.

The water slide decals worked out really well.

Her articulation isn't great, but it was simple enough to do some basic poses.

I made her shoes nice and glossy.

That pout face.

Her sitting pose is nice

But it's a shame to hide that detail.

Or I can just remove it.

This kit was expensive. But I really enjoyed the build. It was simple and easy to build and it looked great when built straight out of the box. Her parts were sculpted really well so after painting it, she became even more gorgeous. Also because she is from Kotobukiya, she has alot of customization potential with other great Kotobukiya kits. So despite her price, I recommend this kit.

As for her hair. I like her Tsundere twin tail style and her mature charm of untied hair. However, I am Asian in the heart. I will go with a ponytail. It's just irresistible.
