Oldies but Goodies : Ranma 1/2

 Thanks to the slow internet connection (and expensive) watching latest anime have become more pain in the a$$, so recently I have been watching Old anime shows that I have saved up in my hard drive.

While watching some of the old shows I had some very nostalgic moments, So I decided to make a post. Who knows maybe some of the newer generations will appreciate some of these old anime. (Speaking of which, does anyone have atomic boy episode 2? you know the banned one?)

Now the first one I wanted to show you is this.

Ahhhh.... Ranma 1/2. Its the series that got me hooked into anime, and my love for school comedy shows. Why? Well one of the reason was this.

Yup. Boobs. I was healthy middle school student and my buddy brought first volume of Ranma 1/2 translated by Viz Media. 

Good Lord... Now I think about it I was very desperate back than. 

Aside from boobs, Ranma 1/2 was funny. It made me laugh during my hard times during middle school, so eventually I was hooked. 

Now I did watch few anime and read few manga while I was in Korea, but it was just show back than. That one volume of Ranma 1/2 made me into Otaku.

Of course the translation was slow so I went online (using 33.6k modem) to download fan translation... and while waiting for new chapter, I read other manga which got me hooked into anime.

Ranma 1/2 does not have a story line... Yup it doesn't. It has a setting. Kinda like lore of modern MMOs. Because of that, there were alot of fan works online. Most noticeable ones are Fanfiction. 

Due to great Ranma 1/2 settng (Lore) there are millions of fanfictions, and I read alot of them when I was younger. There are god stories out there too like 'Waters Under Earth' was epic novel. There were some great crossovers like 'Mirror's Multiplied' 'Just Won't Die' There are stories that still stays in my heart like 'Destiny's Child' by fire. 

These stories can be found in fanfiction.net (Unlike old days where I had to dial my 33.6k modem than Yahoo that shit. No sir... Google did not exist sir.)

The setting for Ranma is simple (LOL I called it simple.... someone is going to behead me) Here is Ranma...

Healthy 16 year old boy who wants to be a true Martial Artist...

Here is Akane...

She likes Martial Arts. (She is Tsundere but that work did not exist back than... Instead they used tomboy)

They are both engaged because of their parents. So far so good right? Basic boy meets girl love story....

Except Ranma when touched by cold water he turnes into she.

This buxom red head that made every middle school student drool and fantasize...  Even with just the poster. (Never mind the fact that she is a he who just happens to be she..... arrggggg)

Hot water will turn her back to boy.

Due to their personally they don't get along. 

First few chapters of Ranma 1/2 is romance story... I can't tell you... It will ruin the story. The story of Akane and her one sided love, and her support for her sister and cutting of her hair... it stills stayed within my memory. 

Speaking of which. You cant forget about Rumiko's famous hand gesture.

Anyway... after that the story goes from romance to comedy... new characters, like new fiancee, other cursed people and such... the show and anime become hilarious and it still stands out today. (New live action movie was released not to long ago.)
