Frame Arms Girl Gourai VER. 2

When I first built the first Frame Arms Girl. I was a bit disappointed. It was a good kit but I thought it was overpriced and compared to Bandai's Gundam kit, small things such as plastic quality and fitment were not that great. It was like building an HG kit with MG price.

Their quality had improved over time as new kits came out and lately I was very satisfied with their kit and when the VER 2 of the original kit came out I had to try it.

Oh boy did I enjoy the build.

Starting from the box art, It has a similar style as the original kit but with an updated picture that depicts what you build including the new chest piece and the rifle.

It also comes with three faces. A stoic face. A stoic face looking right and a winking face. Not a lot of improvement on this part. I wish it had a more emotional faces that is including in Megami Device kits.

The kit also comes with two water slide decals. I can see why they included two since the decal for the underwear is really hard and not well aligned. I used both and it still didn't come out well so I got rid of it.

Its hand are still in their mold. I guess it saves money.

Here is the instuction manual.

The last page has a color guide and decal guide with pictures of the pre-built kit.  That color guide came in handy.

I kit comes with several new chest pieces. One of them is on the picture. Here are the other four. Yup, they are options for different chest sizes. I love it.

It also has a new headpiece. which I like over the original ones. The chest part is an updated chest with a rotating section for the arm. Still, I wish they would improve this part next as that seam line is just impossible.

Here is the important underwear. It is a vast improvement over the original ones. One thing I had to point out is that there is a small part that is not skin color so I had to paint it. Thank god for the color chart that showed me the exact mix to get the same color.

The hit does look a little weird, but compared to the Bandai Kit its superior. Plus that small detail on her underwear makes it look great. Because of its detail, the water slide decals do not align well. It looks unnatural so I took it off. Shimapan is great and all but I prefer white panties. Such a pure color.

I painted the kit using the Tamiya Paint. The only part that is not painted is the skins. I left them a lot, sanded them slightly and gave some shades using pastel and Tamiya Weathering Master.

The armor parts are painted using a highlighting technique where I color the parts dark and gradually bring out the Intended color as the highlight. This gave each part a weathered look and also gave some depth. Water slide decals were applied, and the panel line was done using Tamiya Panel Liner. Her clothe part like her breast and underwear was painted using the same technique. I first painted it using gray than gradually build white which created a beautiful shade. I also added a touch of blue pastel.

Here are the finished pictures. Enjoy!

The kit was well built and well detailed. I think it's worth $60 I paid for it. The original kit was like building an HG kit but this one. This felt like building an RG kit with a lot of option parts.

There are a lot of changes such as shoulder joint, hip joint and most importantly the skirt that gives this kit a lot more articulation. The bulky armor still makes posing this kit bit more challenge since they rub everywhere and I didn't want to scratch the paint but still a vast improvement over the original kit. I highly recommend it over the original kit.
