This is actually a revive version that came out around 2016. Unlike the older kit, it has a slim and athletic look with great proportion so I picked one up.
Starting from the box art. I really love the Bandai Box art.
And the manual. It has a picture of a pre-built kit in various poses and color chart.
This kit comes with a little number of stickers. Foil sticker for color correction and eyepiece and regular sticker for the emblem on the shoulder.
The eye lens is a smoked clear part.
At least it has this awesome yellow beam saber part.
The build was very easy like any other modern Bandai kit. Parts separated from its sprue without any issues with minimum nub mark which can be cleaned very easily. once the build was done the kit poses well and joints were solid.
Here is the finished kit.
My main problem with this kit is that mustard color.
I painted this kit just to get rid of that ugly yellow. I kept the painting to simple. The gold I used was Tamiya gold which is known to be flaky, but it's all I had so I used it. I did buff it a little using a cotton ball and cotton swap to get a smooth look but still, the paint looks flaky.
For weathering, I gave it a scarped effect by dabbing a darker brown gold color with a sponge. I wanted to show off its golden brilliance so I kept the weathering to a minimum.
Here is the finished kit.
A simple paint job really transformed this kit. Bit of buffing and gloss paint job, it made that horrible Tamiya gold to something usable. This was the first kit that I have painted metallic color and so far I think I did a good job.
As for the kit, I highly recommend this kit only if you are willing to paint that horrible gold color.
