Dark Advent 01 Dragondress Sophia DX ver.

With the rise in popularity of mecha musume series like Frame Arms Girl, it wasn't long before ero version began to come out. Chinese copy began, but they were a bit crude, and honestly, it was the add-on part that was bad.

Enter Dark Advent series from Alphamax. Their first entry is this Dragondress Sophia and they didn't even try to hide that this is an adult version. They made it very clear from the beginning that the DX ver included adult parts.

And she is one gorgeous kit.

By the way, this is one hard kit to come by. I had to pre-order it and it still took forever. Thankfully I got the first run of the DX version.

Here is the box art.
The box is a bit larger than the usual ones from the Kotobukiya, and it is filled to the brim with parts.
It has a gorgeous picture of Sophia with her armor on the front with a large logo that says DX ver. to tell others that I am a man of culture.

On the side, The DX version has an extra picture to show the extra parts. Well Some of the extra parts.

The instruction manual has the same gorgeous picture of Sophia in the front.

And has this cute line art of Sophia in the back. That blushing Sophia is just spot on.

Here is the back with the paint guide.

The kit also includes an extra manual for the DX parts.

It also has another paper that is either correction to the original manual or it just shows a bit extra on parts that the builder needs to be careful. Despite this, it didn't help much since the original manual was not that clear.

Opening the parts, I was greeted with plastic that is high quality but not as good as the ones from Bandai. Still a lot better than the Chinese copy I have built before. I was also surprised to see a stand that seems to be high quality made from tinted clear plastic.

It has pre-painted parts as well, but it was just for the faceplates.

The red part really popped out on me as it was shiny, but still, it was a cheap-feeling plastic.

The Steel color ones were bright in color as well but they were really cheap feeling.

The extra DX parts include this bare breast piece and extra tongue for the dragon which is shaped like male genitalia, as well as an extra hand and face plate.

This kit included a small sheet of water slide decals that are for the faceplate. Unfortunately, the sticker didn't really match with the faceplate that came with the kit.

The build was the same as Megami Device kits. In fact, the body is very similar to the Megami Device, and I noticed that the shoulder in this kit is similar to the new Megami Device Chest upgrade that fixes a lot of issues with earlier Megami Device kits. Its probably because Megami Device and this kit uses the body from Masaki Aspy.

The plastic wasn't as high quality as Kotobukiya kits though, still, all parts fit properly with a little bit of work.  Unfortunately, the bad instruction made me cause few accidents. It took few hours, but I was able to finish this kit.

As you can see, this is a gorgeous kit and it has a lot of details like her hair.
Some parts were a bit loose like the dragon's head and that dragon was a bit confusing even looking a the manual.

The trident can also become like a bow, but the way the arrow goes through is a bit weird and it came to looking weird.

Here is Sophia riding her dragon.

Painting this kit was the same as Megami Device. Due to tight-fitting parts, some extra care was needed, like taping off all connection points so the paint don't get on it. It had a lot of small parts so painting them was bit hard, but carefully planning, masking, and painting for a month resulted in this.

Oh yeah. She came out gorgeous. From her smooth skin to dark armor and the sinister dragon, somehow they clash well to create this beautiful girl stand out.

The skin tone was painted using Kaiyodo X Mr. Color Cutie Girls Figure Fresh Color Set. Yes Fresh. I think they mistyped on the box.

The iron color is from Mr. Metal Color. I painted them and buffed them with a cotton ball to get a shiny look.

Enjoy the rest of the pictures.

She is a beauty. More so than the typical Megami Device kits. Unfortunately, Alphamax did not print a lot of her, and I heard the second re-run has a lot of QC issues. That and with its high price, it is hard to recommend this kit. I am not sure if you can even find this at MSRP anymore.

By the way... pictures of the DX version will be on my twitter.

Here is the video of the build.
