Box art is not the greatest, but hey its the kit itself that matters.
Like other MG wings kits, this is Katoki design. Just not advertised as such. (Wonder why)
Just look at the manual. Front page is white with no background and the main mech and few letters only. Nothing fancy. But than again with the main mech design you don't really need much.
Another way to tell if this Katoki design is.... stickers... Lots of stickers... Here is the part of the manual for stickers.
And here are the actual sticker... I meant decals. Yup foils and dry transfers. I hate dry transfers but it will do.
Looking at the parts, This is one part that strikes the most. It for its weapon and it is one large and gorgeous effect part.
Other parts are normal. The yellow color seems great, but there really wasn't striking detail.
Here is part of the red. There is blue too but nothing really worth mentioning.
For now I have finished as out of box build. It wasn't that hard. It similar to other Gundam Wing EW kits. As you can see from this torso part the color separation is really good.
Speaking of which, I really love the head design. (Like all EW kits) That chin part where it points up is really striking and goes well with its theme.
Here is the suit after finished build. As like other EW kits its got good proportion. Shoulder could be wider but for what its worth it looks beautiful.
For MG kit the articulation is not that great. This is the maximum the elbow will go.
And this is it for the leg. The skirt does not help either.
You can try to bend the skirt in awkward angle but still does not help.
Here are the weapons and extras. Not alot but that dragon head is really great.
Here is the head itself... all folded up.
And here it is open. The eye part has green glow sticker, but even without the sticker it looks good.
The staff is good looking weapon and I got more pictures of it for later. The one thing I want to show before I show pose scenes is this. The staff locks on its back. Its bit weak but I can think of few good poses for this.
Anyway back to the dragon head (what ever it is called. I think its called Dragon Feng)
Looks good doesn't it? Unfortunately Its heavy. It either falls of its attachment point or the whole arm falls off. Like this. Sigh... I guess there is no perfect kit.
Here are few more pictures.
And the shield. Its simple but it gets in the way for everything.
Here is a picture of its cockpit open. Its simple and it works.
I tried to make few more poses, but it kept falling apart on me so I stopped. Frame is good, but other 'attachments' just gets in the way.
I am going to paint this, but it has become more bigger job than I have imagined. Alot of parts to sand and few parts to fill. I am going to paint it as is but that yellow has got to go. Sigh... this gonna take a while. Well time to start! Where is that Tamiya putty.
