MG GN-002 Gundam Dynames

Gundam 00 series is weird when it comes to model kits. There are a lot of good main mobile suits however, only Exia got the Master Grade treatment. A lot of fans wanted Master Grade version of other suits and a few months ago, Bandai delivered and introduced Dynames as the Master Grade version.

And oh boy is this a great kit.

Let's start with the box art like always.  This artwork just inspires you to buy this kit.

Here is the instruction manual. Like always it was easy to read and has pictures of pre-built kits for the color guide.

This kit includes stickers which ruin the kit. It is fine on white however on dark colors it really stands out. I wish they would start including water slides instead. At least the stickers are thin so it works better than most.

It also includes clear rubber-like part and few foil stickers for detail parts.

The build was simple with good color separation. There are few small parts such as the head with its gimmick but it didn't really pose any problems and I didn't need to use tweezers.

The color from out of the box is great as well. Both green and white are rich and the yellow really pops out. Due to this reason, while I was building, I decided to not to paint.

Here are few pictures of this kit out of box build (OOB) with gloss topcoat, meaning I build this kit straight out of the box, apply the stickers and finished it with gloss topcoat. That was it and look at the results. Simply outstanding.

I did mess up the center cockpit area though.

The kit includes this full shield and moves around, which gives the suit a kind of appearance that you don't see a lot of.

The articulation is great as well. It did sacrifice the inner frame design for more functioning and mobile kit. The weight of the shield does pose some challenges when posing this kit on the table however the stand adopter slides and clicks into place and it is strong, able to hold the full weight of the kit.

The shield and the rifle click into the shoulder part and I was afraid that the added weight will move the shoulder joints. So far it is not a problem.

One thing though, I think the sniper rifle is a bit too small. This kit looks better with two pistols than the sniper rifle.

I would have left him as is but I wanted to weather it so I did some basic weathering which finished the kit.

For weathering, All I did was some panel lining and using Tamiya Weathering Master. I also used some acrylic paint for the chipping effect by using the sponge. Once finished I sealed it using a flat topcoat.

The result? I think I ruined the kit. It looked better with a simple gloss coat over it.

Still, it has this menacing look that I really like.

Here are the pictures of the finished kit. Enjoy.

Now I am patiently waiting for other 00 Gundam suits. Meanwhile, I wait I got stack of Kotobukiya kits to build.
