HG Gundam AGE 1

So after 2 months of Hiatus, I decided to get back into building with something simple. The simple being HG Gundam AGE-1 Normal.

I kept it simple. No painting, just a simple clean build over the weekend. It was really fun.

Gundam AGE model kit isn't very liked by most. Probably because the show was more children oriented that most Gundam series. That was too bad, because the show was pretty decent, and their model kit was great. Mostly.

The HG version of Gundam AGE is what I consider a turning point for HG kits. Before this, the kit was bulky with very basic movement, but with AGE kits, they were very poseable with a more modern sleek look. The kit was also very painting friendly in the way they were built as well. When these kits came out, most modelers did praise them,  but it was dismissed by most and people ended up believing that they were horrible kits.

Thankfully, these days, they are more well known.

Starting from the box art, it's very simple with white background, and with action picture of the mobile suit.

The kit has very little plastic.

It has one foil sticker for color correction.

This kit is over a decade old so it still uses poly caps.

And a very unique beam saber effect part.

THey manual is simple with enough reference pictures and a color guide. The instruction is very simple and easy to use.

The build was nice and simple. For this kit, I did not paint this but decided to keep it simple. While I was at it, I decided to keep it clean, so I attempted a clean build.

I removed all seam lines and mold marks, the Gaps were closed or filled with plastic goo, and all parts were sanded and polished. I didn't really go overboard, but kept it simple and built this over the weekend. Here are the results.

I also had a sheet of water slide decals for Gundam AGE from Bandai and added a couple of decals. I didn't add a lot because I didn't use a top coat to protect the decals. The Bandai water slide decals are thick and can handle some handling, but they can still come loose.

I do have plans for the rest of the decals.

As for the kit, it is great. It is cheap, easy, and fun to build with great looks and articulation. I recommend it.
